The ESP's mission is to bridge cultural barriers, educate young children, and prepare them for life in our world community through teaching Spanish.
Uno
-
Using 16 index cards, make 4
sets each of a different color (ex. - 4 red, 4 blue, 4 green, 4 orange).
-
Within each color set, write
the following numbers, each on a different card: 1, 5, 10, 20.
-
Again within each color set,
draw the following animals, each on a different card: monkey, lion,
elephant, zebra.
-
The chosen dealer deals each
player 5 cards. The object is to get 4 cards that match in at least
one category: color, number, or animal, with one (Uno) left and be
the one to place those 4 cards down and call out uno at that moment.
-
Players exchange cards by choosing
an equal number of cards to discard and requesting an equal number of cards
from the dealer's remaining deck. The player requests them by saying:
Dame _____(whatever quantity is desired) [dah-may ____]
which means "give me".
-
To win, in Spanish the player
must state the match that exists for the 4 cards placed down.
For example: Yo tengo
cuatro _____. [yoh tehn-goh qua-troh ____]
I have ____.
