The ESP's mission is to bridge cultural barriers, educate young children, and prepare them for life in our world community through teaching Spanish.
Pesca (Go Fish)
-
Designate Spanish vocabulary list for home practice.
-
Using index cards, draw pictures or write the Spanish words on two cards each.
-
Shuffle the cards and place them in the center between the players.
-
Each player drawing cards alternately, takes 5 cards.
-
Both players place pair matches they have down, identifying the vocabulary word in Spanish. One point is earned for each pair.
-
Players then first try to steal cards from each other by asking: ¿Tienes _______? [¿Tee-ehn-ace ________?] (filling in the blank with whatever card is trying to be matched).
-
If they don’t have the card requested, they respond by saying Pesca [Pays-cah], meaning Go Fish, and the other player must draw a card from the stack in the center.
-
If they do have the card, they say si [see], and then give the other player the card.
-
Play continues until one player completely matches all cards.
