The ESP's mission is to bridge cultural barriers, educate young children, and prepare them for life in our world community through teaching Spanish.

Pesca (Go Fish)

  1. Designate Spanish vocabulary list for home practice.
  2. Using index cards, draw pictures or write the Spanish words on two cards each.
  3. Shuffle the cards and place them in the center between the players.
  4. Each player drawing cards alternately, takes 5 cards.
  5. Both players place pair matches they have down, identifying the vocabulary word in Spanish. One point is earned for each pair.
  6. Players then first try to steal cards from each other by asking: ¿Tienes _______? [¿Tee-ehn-ace ________?] (filling in the blank with whatever card is trying to be matched).
  7. If they don’t have the card requested, they respond by saying Pesca [Pays-cah], meaning Go Fish, and the other player must draw a card from the stack in the center.
  8. If they do have the card, they say si [see], and then give the other player the card.
  9. Play continues until one player completely matches all cards.
