The ESP's mission is to bridge cultural barriers, educate young children, and prepare them for life in our world community through teaching Spanish.
Countries and Capitals
-
Review vocabulary for names
of the 20 Spanish-speaking countries and their corresponding capital cities
(and perhaps their associated flags).
-
Create an “S”-shaped game board
with 20 squares making the path.
-
Write the name of a different
country in each box or place a different flag sticker in each box (See
Rocky Mountain School Supplies in Lafayette for flag stickers).
-
Use different coins as game
pieces (or whatever else you might choose), and have the 1st player roll
the die.
-
The 1st player counts the number
of spaces to advance aloud in Spanish as he or she moves.
-
Where the player lands, he or
she must identify both the name of the country and its capital in Spanish.
-
If either the country or the
capital or both are unable to be identified in Spanish, the player
must retreat 2 spaces.
-
Play alternates among players.
The first player to reach the end of the board with a correct answer wins.
